Ideal replacement for original GPS mounting unit

We just bought a GPS unit for our recent vacation trip. While looking for something to hold the unit; I didn't want to attach anything to the windshield, I came upon this item. I read some of the reviews about it and decided to try it. It works just as described. It doesn't slide around while taking curves. It does bounce some while traveling over rough roads, but it generally stayed right where we put it. It was easy to assemble and easy to attach the GPS unit to it. We just used the short neck that came with it and it worked really well. When we stopped somewhere, it was easy to take the GPS unit off and store it out of site and then we'd just sit the dash mount on the floor in the back. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for a simple, easy to assemble GPS holder that's stays where you put it.

Very nice item...given to husband as a Christmas gift along with a GPS unit...he has used both already and likes this mount rather than the suction cup mount for the windshield...this mount allows user to remove it from the dash and place it on the floor for security...
I really like the product. It is an ideal replacement for my Magellan Roadmate supplied mounting unit. I originally was using the Magellan supplied mount attached to a dash beanbag unit, but the suction cup kept becoming unattached. This unit is a complete replacement for the Magellan unit and the clamp mount holds the GPS and "clips" into the beanbag portion of the holder. I am very happy with it plus the GPS can be mounted at three heights depending on which gooseneck (if any) is used. I also reviewed comments on many of the other beanbag type replacement units and this one by far had superior ratings.
I purchased this along with a Magellan 1700 LM GPS which has a huge 7 inch screen and I love this mount! I was surprised with the excellent quality of the mount, it comes with two different necks so your GPS can be positioned in numerous ways. It's heavy and holds the GPS securely, unless you go excessively fast around a curve, it's not going to move. As another reviewer mentioned, a very curved dashboard could maybe cause a problem. The mount head is adjustable and can be used with many other devices.
What's really great about it is, no more messing around with the suction cup mounts, which leave marks on the window alerting thieves "Hey, look at the mess on the window! GPS in here!" Not to mention the fussing around with the suction cup, moistening it to get it to stick (yuck!) "Opps! didn't stick all that great that time, my GPS fell, wonderful...it's scratched now..." No more twisting your hand around in unnatural positions to un-stick and re-stick to the window. Unplug the GPS, pick up GPS mount and all, (does not have to be removed from mount), place it on the floor or such, cover it up, or throw it in something like a a camera bag, take it with you. I'm very pleased with this item and highly recommend.
I am very pleased with the AutoDASHMOUNT that I recently purchased.
It was very easy to put together and its quality appears to be
superior. I was pleasantly surprised to find the mount does not move
on my trucks' dash as I travel through traffic. I purchased this
mount to replace one that adhered to the window by suction cup. I was
concerned about possible movement, but the weight combined with the
friction bottom keeps it from moving while I drive around town. Last,
but not least, is the ease to remove the mount and GPS from my dash to
discourage any theft. All in all I am a very happy customer and will
recommend your product to my friends. Thank you for providing such an
excellent product at a reasonable and fair price.
Purchased ILO suction cup arm for RV. We found the pivot attachment to work better for the RV and for our Jeep Wrangler tow vehicle that has a very minimal dash. The base never slipped and held a 7" Magellan with no tip overs or issues with power attachments. Delivery was fast and works as advertised.
Excellent product; works better than you think it will. It does force you to dust off the dash though for it to work as well as it can.
First, don't be concerned that this product will slide around. Unless you have a head on collision at 65 mph, it's going to stay in place.
What I like most about this product is that, unlike my old window mound, there isn't any rattling. With my window mount, whenever there were any vibrations, the bracket would rattle which was annoying.
Another thing I like is that by having the gps unit on the dash, it is closer to me which makes it easier to see.
I need a mount for my GPS that will sit on the dash of a 2004 Buick Century--you know, with all the curves on all the surfaces. This fits the bill just great! I may also use it for my Jeep. The choice of necks made it easy to decide where to do the mount. it is on the left side of the windshield, where it is easily visible, but does not block the windshield.
