statement ring review Garmin Edge 510 Bike Computer

Garmin Edge 510 Bike Computer

Finally took the Edge 510 out for a ride and put her through her paces. I upgraded from a 500. Outside of the bluetooth connectivity and the quicker GPS lock can't say it is a no brainer to upgrade. That being said I love it. The live tracker is super cool. Knocked out 65 miles and was able too keep my wife informed of where I was as well as some of the other riders that we went out with. About 30 miles out we dropped 2 of them and they were able to pull up their phones and see where we were in front of them. I was nervous that the new screen would be difficult to read in the middle of the day. That was not the case. It is darker than the 500 but very readable, polarized sunglasses may make it more difficult. I did find that when switching screens you have to swipe and though this was very cool having sweaty fingers junks up your screen real quick.

Accuracy was very good, we were out in open country though so can't speak for city riding but can't imagine that would be a problem. It is bigger than the 500. I have mine mounted on a k-edge mount and works great.

I am very happy I upgraded as it used to be a pain to have to go plug the 500 into the computer in order to get the telemetry. Now it just zips it into your phone as soon as you are done riding.

I am very happy with this device. It bridges the gap between doing workouts and seeing results. The Garmin Connect website shows your workouts with individual data fields tracked for each workout. As far as the unit itself, the bluetooth connectivity works well with my HTC OneX phone. The heart rate monitor and speed/cadence sensor are always recognized. Battery life is more than ample for the longest rides. And although it would be tough for Garmin to sell any of these computers if they weren't accurate, the unit is amazingly accurate.

Now I'm probably going to have to buy one for my wife.

Great item. I can be tracked when I am riding alone. The virtual competitor is great for gauging performance against yourself. Best Bike computer out there.

Love the 510. I've used it several times already and it works great. The heart monitor that came with connects as soon as I turn the 510 on. Live this product

I was jumping back and fourth on the old cheaper 500 or the newer 510. I'm so glad about the 510! The five and has so many features of the older 500 does not have. Such as the 510 can do different workout profiles that you can customize easily. Would buy again and again!

    Very good value for money.
    Amazing connectivity.
The size of the screen is perfect, the weight as well.
I would suggest it to any cycler that wants to monitor his/hers performance

I'm using this Garmin for the last week and it's worked wonderfully well. Setting up the speed/cadence sensor was not an easy job but once setup no problem using it. The device syncs to my android and my rides are automatically sent to the phone and the phone pushes it to garmin connect.

This is a good device for an amateur biker like who wants a little more than a standard cheap bike computer.
